Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Finny Inc. ("Finny," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Finny mobile app, the website at meetfinny.com, and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we'll let you know by email or an in-app notice before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

2. What Finny does

Finny is a personal finance app that aggregates your financial accounts in one place so you can see your spending, budgets, net worth, investments, and progress towards financial-independence goals. Finny uses Plaid to connect to your financial institutions with your permission.

Finny is not a financial adviser, broker-dealer, tax adviser, or fiduciary. Anything Finny shows you — including AI-generated insights, budget suggestions, and FIRE projections — is for informational purposes only and is not personalised financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always do your own research and, where appropriate, consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.

3. Eligibility and your account

Minimum age

You must be at least 18 years old to use Finny. By agreeing to these Terms, you confirm you are 18 or older and able to enter into a binding contract.

Registration

To use most features you need to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. If you sign in via a third-party identity provider (Apple, Google), you must keep that account secure.

Account security

You are responsible for activity under your account. Use a strong, unique password, enable Face ID / Touch ID lock in the app, and notify us at security@meetfinny.com if you suspect unauthorised access. Finny is not liable for losses caused by your failure to keep your account credentials secure.

4. Acceptable use

When using Finny, you agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Connect financial accounts you don't have authority to connect
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service, except where allowed by applicable law
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any connected systems, except via our responsible disclosure process at security@meetfinny.com
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, our servers, or third-party services we depend on (for example by overwhelming our APIs)
• Use automated means to scrape or extract data from the Service
• Misuse the AI assistant — including attempting to extract another user's data, generate harmful content, or circumvent safety controls

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

5. Third-party services

Plaid

When you link a financial account, you authorise Plaid to access that account on your behalf and share data with Finny. Your use of Plaid is also governed by Plaid's end-user privacy policy. Finny is not affiliated with your bank, brokerage, or other financial institution. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or completeness of data your financial institution provides.

App Store and RevenueCat

Subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store and managed via RevenueCat. Apple's standard EULA and refund policy apply to App Store purchases. Subscription cancellations and refund requests are handled by Apple.

AI providers

Finny's AI assistant uses models from Anthropic and Google (via Vertex AI), with voice transcription by OpenAI Whisper. When you ask the assistant a question, only the data needed to answer that specific question is sent to these providers. Your conversations are not used to train their models. We don't guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated answers — review them before acting on them.

Other providers

We rely on Supabase (auth, database), Railway (hosting), OneSignal (push notifications), Sentry (crash reporting), and PostHog (analytics). These providers process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements.

6. Subscriptions, fees, and refunds

Finny offers a free tier and one or more paid subscription plans. Pricing and entitlements are shown in the app at the point of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew through the App Store unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its standard refund policy. Finny can't issue refunds for App Store transactions directly.

We may change pricing in the future. We'll give you advance notice and you'll be able to cancel before the new price applies.

7. Intellectual property

Our content

The Finny app, website, name, logo, and all software, design, and content we create are owned by Finny Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

Your content

You keep ownership of the data you put into Finny — budgets, notes, category overrides, chat messages, and so on. You grant us a limited licence to host and process that data so we can provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Feedback

If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use it without obligation to you.

8. Termination

By you

You can stop using Finny at any time. To delete your account and the data associated with it, go to Settings → Account → Delete account, or email support@meetfinny.com.

By us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your account creates legal or security risk, or if providing the Service to you stops being commercially viable. Where reasonable, we'll give you advance notice.

Effect

On termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately and your data will be deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive (IP, warranty disclaimers, limitation of liability, dispute resolution) will survive termination.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any information shown (transactions, balances, AI-generated insights, FIRE projections) will be accurate or up to date. Financial data we show comes from third parties (Plaid and your financial institutions); we're not responsible for delays, errors, or omissions in that data.

Nothing Finny shows you is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Finny and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid Finny in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $100.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places our liability is limited to the minimum extent the law allows.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Finny and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) your violation of these Terms or any law, or (c) your infringement of another person's rights.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

Nothing in this section limits any consumer rights you have under the law of the country where you live, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where mandatory law allows.

13. Miscellaneous

Entire agreement

These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Finny regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.

Severability

If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in full effect.

No assignment

You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Force majeure

We're not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (e.g. internet outages, acts of God, government action).

No agency

These Terms don't create any partnership, employment, or agency relationship between you and Finny.
